Sutcliffe & Son (Plasterers) Limited was established back in the late 1940’s by Arthur Sutcliffe Senior. Whilst still at school, Arthur Sutcliffe Junior worked for the company and, over time, transformed the small domestic company into a very successful and profitable commercial business. After the loss of Arthur Snr, Arthur Jnr’s drive and determination saw the business continue to go from strength to strength.
Already one of the, or if not ‘the’ most successful plastering company in the North West that still operated under its original trading name, Arthur Jr’s sons joined the business in early 2000. It became one of largest (up to 200 operatives at its peak) and most reputable companies in the industry, winning many recognised awards and achieved approved contractor status from major manufacturers.
Operating from the family home for nearly 60 years, the business eventually moved into the local town centre and has always been based in Urmston, Manchester, undertaking all major housing and commercial work throughout the North West of England.
Having had 3 generations of family at the helm (and 3 generations of employees in some cases), Sutcliffe & Son (Plasterers) employed a large number of staff and invested in ‘new blood’ i.e. apprentices to try and plug the ever growing skills gap, all achieving a minimum NVQ2 qualification and industry standard CSCS cards helping them to grow as individuals whether it be with us or when they moved on.
